This journey really began in February of 2007. In an icy world almost 66 degrees south, along the Antarctic peninsula. There, at the bottom of the world, was born the idea to go north just as far north, to 66º. It’s a story of how my passion for photography lead me to the opposite end of the earth, Iceland. Today I made my way from Austin, Texas to JFK International Airport. I have 60 kilos of luggage: a full set of HD video equipment, still cameras and clothes. I landed with a multi-hour cushion in advance of my Iceland Air flight so I could meet my friend, Steve Ginn, flying in from Oregon. We boarded late, and left even later. Three hours on the tarmac, 70th in line of 120, yes, 120 planes. All we could do was watch a movie and have dinner. Perhaps I slept an hour or two, but that was definitely the last of it when I stretched and glimpsed frozen chunks of Greenland out the tiny window. I was back in the ice, it is so strangely exciting.
